A Reflection For Women Who Are Done With Pushing Through
Another month begins, and maybe, just maybe… you’re already feeling behind.
The mental load. The hormonal rollercoaster. The 3pm crash. The guilt for snapping at the kids again. The pressure to keep showing up, even when your body’s waving a little white flag.
If this is resonating, let this be your reminder:
You’re not broken.
You’re just tired.
And right now – in this moment – you’re allowed to slow down.
The Dark Moon Energy: A Natural Pause
This week, we’re in the dark moon. The quietest part of the lunar cycle.
It mirrors our own inner winter – the time in our menstrual cycle known as menstruation where energy is lowest, insight is highest, and the body is asking for rest. But in a world that rewards constant doing and hustle, it’s easy to override this call to slow down.
We power through.
We drink another coffee.
We tell ourselves we’ll rest “when things settle down” (but they never really do).
And slowly… that quiet whisper from your body becomes a roar.
The Real Cost of Pushing Through
As a nutritionist and mother who works closely with women across every life stage – from puberty, adulthood or motherhood, through to perimenopause and beyond, I can tell you this with certainty:
So many of us are walking around depleted, overwhelmed, and unsure where to start. We think we need more motivation or willpower. But what we actually need is a rhythm that supports us.
What I’m Doing Differently This Month
This new moon, I’ve set some clear intentions for myself – not goals, not to-do’s- just gentle anchors to guide how I want to feel. Because that’s what matters most.
Here’s what that looks like for me right now:
🧘♀️ Saying yes to slower mornings and grounding practices like yoga or walking
☕ Checking in with my naturopath (yes, even practitioners need practitioners!)
📵 Choosing a book over the scroll before bed
👩👧👦 Spending true presence time with my kids – no multitasking, just connection
💭 Releasing the idea that I have to do it all, all the time
It’s not perfect. But it’s honest. And it’s what’s helping me stay well during a busy season – in work and in life.
